Ze Pickle, Fortitude Valley

Zee end to my A to Z challenge of 2021 was SUPPOSED to be Zero Fox! I’d emailled them earlier, asking if they were open over Christmas?

REPLY: “Yes, til Christmas” 

Great! So I gathered my Dungeons & Dragons teammates and headed over on 23rd December… Unfortunately I forgot to ask what TIME they would be open til, as we all arrived about 7ish to find the bar had well and truly closed by 5pm. Doors locked and chairs pushed up against it. Booooooo

OK – what other Z bars are there? Brisbane has like 3. More than Q bars anyway. The closest one was Ze Pickle, round the corner. Let’s do it.

Drive the 1.2km, walk in and – it’s LOVELY. Lovely, welcoming staff, offering food and drinks and OK they didn’t have the popcorn shrimp I wanted, but we all got burgers with little pickles on top (always a winner with me). YUM.

About the bar: There’s cute art on the walls, a neon sign with “NEON SIGN” written in Fluro (this appeals to me) It’s more of a restaurant, but wish I’d sat at the bar, and they were closing up by 9.
