Alba Bar & Deli

And it was the end of my Z to A bars challenge – 26 bars in reverse alphabetical order. Ending with: Alba Bar & Deli

On Burnett Lane (a lane you would only venture down if you were looking for a bar or being a total creep in the city) BUT – it’s a nice alleyway! It’s been prettied up with lantern lights and floor chalk.

We were only all there cuz I’d won a food & drink voucher – before I’d started blogging. before alphabeticalbars.com was a thing. before Chick Walks Into a Bar was a thing.

Ben, Nick, Bickford, Jac, myself & Matt, Greg, Andrew & Lib

First up: yes you can sit at the bar (which is green and cool and you can talk to the bartenders) But with all the friends on this night – we had a bunch of high tables in the corner.

Second: i didn’t get photos of everything – again: wasn’t a blogger at the time.

Being a large group and on the voucher’s tab, we let the staff choose our foods.

We were served dishes of olives (not pitted) Meatballs (yum) and for my first time ever: steak tartare, which was delicious. Mains were scallops, croquettes and oysters, all served family style (grab what you can on the table lol).

I have happy photos of us all, and messy plates at the end, which is always a sign of a great night out.

Matt and I finished the night with one last cocktail at the bar, and he took the photo that would eventually become my Chick in a Bar icon. (After he cartoonified it).

Two days after the Alba bar – Matt made me a WordPress account so I could write all the things, and alphabeticalbars.com was born.

Alba gets 4 out of 5 happy chicks from me

Rating: 4/5
