Bar #51, in my alphabetical bar challenge.
OH Wow there’s a Bollywood Bar in Carina – It’s an immediate YES. for my B bar. Branching out to the suburbs one Tuesday evening, with Matt. Beautiful BOLD Bollywood signage out front: it is Bollywood, it is a bar, it is fully licensed.
Most people were grabbing takeaways, but it was so pretty inside – better to dine-in. The bar has a whole clapper board backdrop, and fancy red seats. The floor is disco chequered pattern, and above – there’s disco lights! YES.
The entry has a cool novelty car booth you could sit in (which people already were) so we got a table by the projector playing Bollywood film snippets.
There’s cool posters on the walls, and great music – low enough volume to chat AND create atmosphere.
The menu included Indian and Chinese dishes. Not a big booze selection, but that’s ok> I can always find a winner. Grabbed a couple Asahi schooners.

Dinner plates/crockery were all charcoal colour (awesome) and the cutlery was self-serve from the tin on the table.
Both dishes were cooked perfect. The lamb korma with swirly yogurty bits – yum! Chicken tikka masala – double yum. Perfect medium spicy. Plain rice was sold separately, but that one bowl was plenty for two.

The bread basket turned out to be 3 baskets of bread โ a whole medley of garlic, plain and cheese flavoured naans.
There was a LOT, and we ate a LOT. Everything was delicious. Would highly recommend this suburban gem – the Bollywood bar. More than just a tasty food experience.
