Called to me! from across the street: THAT place, that used to be a Fritzenberger – now had bold new signage: Caxton Street Brewing Company.
Though Brisbanites (as old as me) will also remember it as the Casablanca club – yep, WAY back. So I went to see what the new NEW owners had done with the place.
The tap beers were still Fritzen-flavoured, so nothing out of left-field here.
I took my beer for a walk around, looking for a place to sit with a nice view.
COLOURFUL new artwork, BIG fans circulating that Brisbane humidity around.
The place felt brighter and airier than before.
I plonked my beer down, with a good view of the street/cars/passersby.
This was a lovely afternoon vibe, but come FOOTY DAY – expect the place to be chockers with either Broncos/Dolphins supporters!
I enjoyed my cold frothy one and was on my way.
Just don’t get it confused with THE Caxton Hotel (a few meters down the road)
A pleasant pop-in, but on a street with so many other bars/restaurants: I rarely find the need to return.
