First, I didn’t mean to get a free pizza, it just kind of happened. Second, here’s how we got a free pizza at Firefly. It’s a bit of a story vomit but if you’re down for a read, here’s our bar adventure:
I was late to meet Rach in the city, but she’d grabbed a table (awesome) so I apologised by getting the first round Beer-O’s.
Then – I confused the dickens out of the server chick: by ordering 2 beers, then getting totally distracted by the Pizza & Beer LUNCH SPECIAL – Ooh can I order a pizza lunch special with 1 of these beers and my mate can come order hers later?
Server: “I think it all has to be ordered at the same time”
OK – Well I don’t know what Rach wants, so I’ll get ONE Pizza lunch special plz.
“Do you still want 2 beers?”
OMG YES, who said anything about not wanting the beers. 2 x Balter XPAs plz.
Next – I took the beers to Rach and say I GOT the pizza and beers special: just order what food you want.
(She ordered a prosciutto pizza while I took a SIP of beer) and returned to say “I’ll transfer you the money”
for the beer? that’s cool, my shout for beers.
“And the pizza”
I only paid for 1 pizza. my pizza.
Rach: “I didn’t pay! I ordered with that server guy, thinking you’d paid my lunch too” .
Good lord. there was some serious miscommunication between me / Rach / the server chick / the server dude.
My BBQ chicken pizza came out and we tucked into that.
Minutes later the prosciutto pizza arrived.
Great!
AND NO ONE ASKED for payment. Everyone thought someone else had paid.
Even after Rach went and got another round of beers.

so THANK YOU Firefly – the pizzas were delicious! Great lunch deal and a nice view of the city if you want to people-watch.
