I was a bit of a Nigel no-friends to this bar, for some reason no-one wanted to come out on a Wednesday night to the valley, but I wanted to celebrate the inking of my first tattoo, with a few mocktails..
Iris bar is at the top of Hotel X Brisbane (name not changed, that’s for reals) and not being a guest of the hotel I just parked wherever (the nearest car park – a closed fabric shop) and wandered into the hotel lobby..
And was immediately stopped by security. Awesome.
Ok was it my pink hair? or brand new tattoo? My arm was bleeding only a little, but it was wrapped in plastic!
“I’m here for Iris bar” I think I said. Whatever I said it was the magic password because then I was directed to Level R to check-in. of course!
It was still the time of covid check-ins, and Queensland needed to know where I was at all times. Thank you security men.
Up the lift and out to the rooftop, is a delightfully beautiful area, with glamorous lighting and a swish bar. It was a clear night so took stacks of photos of the Story Bridge. The mocktail was made of passionfruit and chillis, and dinner was baba ganoush dip with warm fluffy pita bread.
Impressive: The panoramic views, the service, the fact my car didn’t get towed
More impressive: It was my only non-alcoholic night of the challenge.
