Ling Ling’s

Lurking just outta sight of China Town is Ling Ling’s, late night Asian restaurant & bar, Fortitude Valley.

Look for the beautiful, brightly lit sign out front, the entrance is like RIGHT next to a strip club, so check which side of the velvet rope you’re standing.. Unless that’s what is wanted…

So I chose the bar (duh) Lovely hostess offers me to sit wherever I like… Cool cool, can I sit at the bar? “Let me show you around”, she offers. Please do!

Am given a sneaky peek behind the curtain (spoiler: not a curtain) to their hidden bar: Cindy Chow’s.. There’s poker tables, and a whiskey bar!

(long story short: I could not sit at the bar)

Lots of wicked cool art on the walls – as I’m led back to the main restaurant, where I took a seat by the pool table. Loved the pretty Chinese lantern lighting and pink neon glowy cats!

The menu ordering was QR code fun (read: not fun) trying to get it to scan. See they kept Cheeseburger spring rolls on the menu, from when it used to be Heya bar.. So heya, let’s try those –

They’re cute, cheeseburgery flavoured, and come with little pickles on top. But from my notes, not worth trying again. Alongside those, a little plate of karaage chicken with squeezy lime wedge..

The main area is LOUD, at least I didn’t have to shout over anyone. Didn’t see any dance disco parties while I was there, but happy enough with my visit and my snacks.

Ling Ling’s.. Like the fish, but two..

2 chicks. One for each ling.
