SO, you’ve decided to go BAR HOPPING!
MAYBE it’s planned? or totally spontaneous: if you’re new to a PUB CRAWL – there’s no better way to dive into the local bar scene than with a little ADVENTURE!
Here’s how I got started: My first challenge to myself was to visit 26 bars in Brisbane – from A to Z !
It wasn’t just about the drinks (though they were great too) it was about pushing myself to get out of the house and finally check out those bars I’d been telling myself I’d visit “one day.”
Making a list from A to Z was like a cute little homework project. It gave me START and ENDING points. Then I used Google maps to place pins and fill in the gaps. Soon enough, I had my own pocket guide for where to go next..
What started as a personal challenge turned into a PASSION – since then, I’ve blogged almost 100 bars, from Brisbane to Melbourne, here and on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

A – ASK a friend to come for a DRINK – or go SOLO – adventures await!
B – BE BRAVE: Walk in, sit at the bar.
C – CHAT to bartenders (if they’re not swamped) or fellow patrons.
D – DO plan your stops, mapping bars nearby makes for a smoother crawl.
E – EAT before, during, and after drinks. Stay fuelled.
F – FIND hooks under the bar to hang your stuff. Hands-free = carefree!
G – GET your steps UP – Pick 3 bars within walking distance to keep it lively.
H – HAPPY HOURS: Plan your route to take advantage of drink deals!
I – ID – Always take it with you. Some places are strict, no matter your age.
J – JOIN IN! if there’s trivia, karaoke, or games – Immerse yourself in the scene.
K – KNOW your limits – when to indulge and when to call it a night.
L – LISTS: If you made one, WHY NOT create your own A-to-Z of bars to visit?
M – MANNERS matter – even at midnight. Be polite, no rushing.
N – NAP beforehand. It’s the secret to staying out past 10 p.m.
O – OWN IT. Focus on enjoying the atmosphere, and the experience.
P – POTS AND PINTS (learn your beer lingo) or go all out and get a PADDLE!
Q – QUENCH your thirst, alternate with water or non-alcoholic beverages.
R – RECORD the moment: Pics or it didn’t happen!
S – STAY SAFE – don’t leave your drink unattended & look out for friends.
T – THEME IT: make the night special in your own way.
U – UBER it home! Plan your transport – NO drink driving.
V – VIBE CHECK: Would you VISIT again? Take notes for next time.
W – WING IT, sometimes the best stops are unplanned, so keep an open mind.
X – X-FACTOR: Find that unique element that sets the bar apart.
Y – YAWNING is your signal to head home – it’s been a good run.
Z – ZZZ’s: Rest up and recharge for the next adventure!
