Upstairs is supposed to be where all the magic happens at Union Electric, with the rooftop and all… but honestly? I found the best spot the second I walked in.

The downstairs bar had a bustling little crowd — you could mingle, or sit at the BAR

I sat at the bar (No surprises there)
Cool lighting, slightly well-worn menus…

I chose a Sweet Life as my first cocktail there,
Then I swung around and saw: a random portrait of Bill Murray from Lost In Translation watching over the room. WHAT!?

No-one warned me about the Bill Murray wall portrait and I feel like, had I known, I would’ve dropped in much sooner.

On another occasion: I headed upstairs for a cocktail: Them Apples, snapped a few pics of the rooftop menu, then drifted back downstairs again.

Each time, the cocktails were solid and the vibe definitely leans cool Melbourne laneway bar.
That said… it’s maybe a tiny bit dusty, and a little over-hyped these days.
it’s 3.5 out of 5 from me
