The LAST bar on my Brisbane LIST before I moved to Melbourne!
>Situated in the West Village, West End. The outside gives GLIMPSES of the pretty BAR inside..
I showed up RIGHT on time for my 1pm reservation (after receiving two texts and an email reminding me not to be late).
Janet was also KEEN to catch-up – so I’d booked us a SPECIAL table for 2 UPSTAIRS on the Mezzanine level.
Sooo I was kinda confused when the hostess was clearing a table downstairs -?
“Oh, we’re understaffed today and can’t manage the upstairs service”
OK.. downstairs it is.
We scanned the menu and started ordering drinks and foods:
A Japanese Slipper for Janet, please, and I’ll have a Midori & pineapple juice, thx.
Janet’s cocktail looked amazing!
And it was at THAT point I realised I was handed a glass of pineapple juice. Whoops.. The Midori?
LUCKY the food came out and it looked amazing!
We shared four yakitori plates: pork belly, salmon, zucchini, and mushrooms in a creamy sauce.
ALL served on little pancakes – super CUTE and just enough for our LUNCH.
We had a LOVELY catch up, and YES the staff did GIGGLE when I pointed out the Midori was missing from my juice “I did wonder about that!” Yes..
THEN we were almost overcharged – until I pointed out the final total we were about to pay (OVER by $50)
“Sorry! Typed that in wrong” was the sentiment.
OH MAN, the staff did struggle a little that day…
